Disney World Will Submit Reopening Plans And Date This Week

On Thursday (May 21), Universal Orlando Chief Executive Officer John Sprouts submitted a proposal to reopen the Florida-based theme park to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. The task force unanimously approved the plan for Universal Studios Orlando to reopen after two months of closure due to COVID-19.

Following this news, theme park enthusiasts began wondering when Walt Disney World submit their reopening plan. It turns out, they won't have to wait long to find out when the Happiest Place on Earth plans to reopen the doors to the Magic Kingdom. In an interview with CNBC, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings shared that Disney World will submit their proposed reopening plan and date this week.

Disney World will have to follow the same steps as Universal Studios Orlando when submitting a plan for reopening. They will first have to share their plans with the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. If the task force approves of the plan, it will then be sent to Mayor Demings and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for approval.

Universal Studios Orlando plans to reopen on June 5. Both Universal and Walt Disney World opened their respective shopping and entertainment complexes within days of each other, so, it wouldn't be too surprising if Disney's proposed opening date is similar to its theme park neighbor.
