Florence Threatening the Coast: What to Expect in The Piedmont Triad

GREENSBORO, NC -- Hurricane Florence's rain bands and tropical storm-force winds are starting to hit North Carolina's outer banks.

According to the National Hurricane Center's 8 AM storm update, Florence still poses a serious risk to the coastline of the Carolinas with high storm surge and tens of inches of rain.

Here in the Piedmont, we aren't expected to see anything like hurricane-force winds or catastrophic flooding, but higher winds and more rainfall are expected into the weekend.

The WFMY News 2 team is on top of the storm, and is warning that we could still see some flooding or power outages as the storm rolls in through Monday.
