Donāt expect Lewis Capaldi to be your typical superstar. He may be behind hit ballad āSomeone You Loved,ā but he isnāt about to harp on the emotional lyrics and breakup behind the song ā or take fame too seriously.
āLook at me,ā Capaldi told Ryan Seacrest when he stopped by On Air With Ryan Seacrest on Tuesday, October 15. āIām never going to be Mr. Serious when I look like meatloaf,ā he joked. āā¦ I think the music can be serious, right? And you can do the music and this doesnāt have to last forever. I just want to look back and think, āYou know what? I had a great, good time with it.ā And I am. Iām having a lovely time.ā
Capaldi, who still lives with his parents, agreed that he does have a levity to him and doesnāt want to be a sap story.
āYou go out for a gig and see someone on stage and theyāre like, āHereās this next song thatās about a girl that left me and I was really sadā and itās like, āWho cares!āā Capaldi explained of his view. ā[Youāre like] āSing the song! I came here to hear it! Sing it! Youāre making me mad! Do it!ā You know what I mean?ā
That said, the 23-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter said he will continue to work some personal experiences and stories into his music, but finding love on the road has been difficult.Ā
āI think you can still find stuff to write about,ā he concluded. āI think [having] all this stuff happen, itās amazing, but the rest of the part ā¦ Iām never home so I ā¦ miss home ā¦ and thereās stuff to write about that ā¦ and itās [also] very hard to cultivate a romantic relationship when youāre on the road.ā
